Saturday 9th June saw Olympians Lightweight Wesley "The Immortal" Murch back in action on local promotion Tear up in a title fight that matched Murch against tough French veteran Mamour Fall, Mamour is an experienced former champion with only 1 loss in his last 8 fights and that being a close decision, Fall has been the distant 9 times and is notoriously hard to finish so over 5 rounds it seemed Murch would be in for a long night.
Murch was coming off the back of 2 victories with the local promotion and has never been the distance finishing all his victories with the majority being in the first round but this was a step up in opponent against the tough Frenchmen.
Murch started the fight composed and relaxed and as the 2 engaged soon displayed his aggressive wrestling and easily secured the first round with some ground and pound while fending off some good submission attempts by fall, round 2 went exactly the same way and the Olympians fighter looked to be very comfortable as they went out for the third, the 3rd round saw a change in dynamic as the French man decided to take things to the ground and took Murch down for the first time in his career but the local man looked composed as he sat in butterfly guard and it wasn't long before he managed to utilise a slick ground game and secure a triangle that left Fall with no option but to tap in the opening of round 3.
This victory was a display of Murch's ability as he had more time to prepare and train properly and is a big statement solidifying him among Europe and the UK's Lightweight division.
Also appearing at Tear up were fellow Olympians Toby Meech and Polish Pete Kurcman in C class that saw both of them overwhelm their opponents in the opening round, Meech secured a guillotine early on that his opponent tried to defend but to no avail and was forced to tap giving him his second straight victory,
Polish Pete stepped up in his debut fight and steam rolled his opponent early secured a takedown and soon forced a ref stoppage due to ground and pound to give him his first victory.
June 9th saw another clean sweep for Olympians mma and all 3 fighters remain injury free and are back in training!!
